Anna Tennyson
LCSW Associate
Hello and welcome—I'm so glad you're here.
I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSWA) with a passion for supporting individuals and communities on their journey toward healing, self-understanding, and growth. My work is grounded in the principle that every person has the inner strength and capacity to move through challenges and build a life where they are empowered, connected, and are thriving.
My therapeutic approach is integrative and client-centered, and blends evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with strengths-based empowerment, mind-body practices, and elements of expressive arts therapy. I tailor each session to the unique needs of the individual and see it as a great honor to foster a space where clients can feel seen, heard, and supported to be their authentic selves.
I was born in Charleston, SC, with much of my life shaped by international work and living abroad. I have worked and lived in Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Australia, where I partnered with both local and international organizations to support community development, advocate for mental health access, and provide trauma-informed care. In Australia, I oversaw the delivery and management of community centers, counseling programs, emergency relief initiatives, domestic violence services, and housing assistance. I also led trainings and workshops for counseling centers, focusing on the integration of art and mindfulness in therapeutic work. These global experiences deepened my commitment to culturally responsive, inclusive, and integrative care.
In 2017, I became a parent for the first time—an experience that transformed me both personally and professionally. My family and I moved back to the Western North Carolina in 2020, where I’ve continued my work as a community advocate, focusing on food security in Haywood County.
Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, or simply feeling stuck, my goal is to walk alongside you in a supportive, judgment-free space where healing is within reach. I believe in therapy as paving a path to reconnect with what brings you strength, purpose, and joy.
I’m honored to do this work—and I’m excited to walk with others as they create meaningful, empowered lives.
